The wonderful Tom Metcalfe wanted to test a workshop yesterday so I got to try out the very clever Little Bits kits. They’re expensive but my gosh do they make rapid prototyping incredibly simple:
Open a kit:
Add power (the blue units)
Add a control input (the pink bits)
Add a Branch extension module (the orange bits)
Add an output (the Green bits)
With magnetic joints that snap together your imagination is absolutely released. From opening the box to the end of the workshop we had half an hour:
And look what I made My first animatronic squid!
Playing with the input control completely gave him character.
PS: More amazing was the singing grass, the crocodile whose tongue spun and eyes lit up, and the swing in the tree which Victoria, Jasmine, Roseanne, Jess and Verity made.
