Standing Ovations and Rapid Prototyping

I’ve been silent this year so far- but not from getting to hibernate under a blanket.
In fact- we’ve been working flat our since January 2nd.
Our gigs in Germany at ZKM, with Hidden Fields (which I choreographed) were a great success- standing ovations for 2 of the shows, no less!

Within 12 hours of returning I was thrown headlong into an incredible new creative process with 22 incredible European and Brazilian citizens. It was a whirl wind of great ideas, confusion, panic, more great ideas and superb music.

I can’t sum it up- but I can say that the storify stream that we set up, did a pretty good job: You can see all the great images, and key aspects here.

My wonderful team developed two rapid prototypes: The first Sonic Branches the most mad musical tree which one rather lovely person on twitter was heard saying: “impossible to describe how great this is in a tweet #playablecity social music connection thing…..”

And the second: The subtle Telescope to a Beautiful City that combines one of the oldest inventions (of cut glass to fracture an image) and aural history, with the genius of rigorous tech: where the stories only start playing when you hold the Telescope.

We’re also going to be writing regular blog posts about the project. Here’s my first one.
