Brazilian Adventures Part 1

So whilst working on the brilliant Recife:Playable City Sprint, my group developed two prototypes.

I wrote two blog posts for the project, and have included the first one, and the video of our prototype below for your enjoyment:

“Ideas are curious things, they settle with you somewhere quite deep within your soul, and sometimes, when the opportunity comes to re-examine them you discover they have become finite. Fixed perfect and without flaw. In all honesty they never are, and it’s a case of rose tinted spectacles.

The best ideas, however, grow from being given a little space. Our first day here in Recife was all about orientation in the city, and connecting to each other again, bonding across nations. So many passing comments from the Brazilians suddenly made perfect sense. The deep nights and sunsets. The traffic, the underused river, the stunning xilogravurau wood cut art ( and graffiti) style. The energy and the colours, and the sense of humour.

Our suitcase full of equipment was about enable us to focus on Recife this week. Make one working prototype of the telescopes and the music makers, and relish the opportunity to explore their future potential for Recife. To explore the collaboration with these amazing new friends and encourage change to settle inside us. The ideas and prototype have already developed – local design and music ideas, locations and a better understanding of the call to action.

Now to test. To play and to test!”

And what did we make? Well. This: It’s called Press Play: Toca Aí
